A Good Woman
March 16/08

In these swirling seconds I drag my eyes around your body in the saddest way;

the virgin rise of your cheekbones to the upward curve of your lips and then to the arms.

I am shattered across the porch as moths die into the light and your fingers leak black

music that sleeps beside your neighbors who keep their windows open in late August.

Yes, you are beautiful and magnetized but I’ll crawl up to the sky and kiss the stars instead

because you are in love and I am a good woman.
Cheers for productive melancholy and teenage clichés!

Suggested soundtrack: "A Good Woman" by Cat Power

"I am shattered across the porch as moths die into the light and your fingers leak black" - wow.
This was gorgeous. The first line I think could have been stronger, maybe cut down on the adjectives? Not that I have a clue what I'm talking about. I love the simplicity of the last line, it ends it perfectly.
